The sixth day...

Tuesday, March 31, 2009 0
Well, I was feeling off today, so I took a sick day to try to rest and rejuvenate a bit. I had planned to sleep late and ease into the day but, of course, the incredible barking wonder was having none of that. He completely refused to quiet down. I don't know what was bothering him this morning, but he barked non-stop for an hour until I just had to suck it up and go spend a little time with him. After he calmed down, I was able to settle down for a bit and veg out on the couch. I'm feeling better, if still a tad tired/sluggish.

A fragrant gift in a beautiful polka dot box :)

Anyway, since today was a stay at home day, I had to do some searching for my Bright Week Pic-O-The-Day. I wanted something fun and bright; and I found it with my candle. I received the candle as a gift in the adorable polka dot box. I mean, come one, who doesn't love polka dots? They are adorable! Too bad this isn't smell-o-vision, because the candle smells amazing. It is the Cinnamon and Clove Bud candle; and it may be my favorite candle fragrance from the Slatkin & Co. products @ Bath and Body Works.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone :)

Inviting some black and white pictures to the party :)

Monday, March 30, 2009 0
Just a little beautiful black and white to balance out all of that bold and beautiful color. It really is amazing how different a picture can look once its "blush" is stripped away :)

The fifth day... Three cheers for Bright Week!!!

Welcome to Bright Week everyone!

The lovely folks over at concrete and honey came up with the concept of having a Bright Week in which people post pictures that are bursting with color. I came across the blog and thought that it was a neat idea. It certainly forces me to view the city in a different way. So much of the city is dark a gray; I’ll have to try and be a bit inventive :) I do so like a challenge.

Today’s color selection comes mostly from the dollar store. That place has some ridiculously bright stuff – lol!

I may have to go back and buy a pack of these rulers. They're just so wonderfully bright.

And the parade of color marches on...
and on...

and on, down the aisles.

What will I take pictures of tomorrow?

Not even an umbrella will help you

Sunday, March 29, 2009 0
Well everyone, the weekend is almost over and I am enjoying the last few hours by being lazy and watching this week's installment of the 2009 Nora Roberts Collection, Midnight Bayou. Jerry O'Connell = yea! He is so boy-next-door adorable. All of Nora Robert's books pretty much have the same elements, but that doesn't make the story any less interesting or entertaining. I've read a fair share of her books, and may have to check this one out. It seems to be just the right mix of sultry and spooky.

It was raining here earlier. Well actually it was hailing for a bit, and then raining heavily, and now it's eased up a bit. Grape sized hail that was coming down with tremendous ferocity. I feel sorry for anyone who forgot their umbrellas; though the way that hail/lightning/rain was coming down, an umbrella probably wouldn't have helped anyway.

The street is littered with hailstones and there is a new not-so-tiny lake in front of my house.

Stay dry everyone, and have a great week.

The fourth day...

My family came across several old board games when cleaning and organizing a few months ago. We have always been big board game players and have amassed A LOT of them over the years. I remember playing a lot of games (including the two shown above) with my family when I was a kid, but things get so busy and hectic when you get a bit older and have to deal with school and work and all of life's other little etceteras. I think I may have to institute a game night situation to try and get a little of that free-for-all fun back. The only games that I never really got were Yahtzee and Risk. I just never got what was fun with those games. Anyway, if anyone has any family game night ideas, let me know :)

On another note, a week ago Yahoo! Movies put up a list called 100 Movies to See Before You Die. It is an interesting collection of films. I’ve already seen some of the films, and may have to check out the rest. If you’re interested, the list can be found here: 100 Movies to See Before You Die. Let me know what you think of the list, or if you feel any film is more of a must see that the others :)

The third day (a little belated)...

Well, this picture was taken on Saturday the 28th, so I am still going to count it as a pic post for yesterday. I would have posted sooner, but my man and I went to the movies last night. It was supposed to be for just the one show, but, of course it turned into a double header. It often does with us. What can I say; we love movies. I can never figure out why theaters always have so many concession stands. This particular theater has three. The pic above is of the smallest one and it's never open. Why bother? How about putting in another theater, or some more restrooms? There's always a need for more of those. The line for the ladies room can get pretty ridiculous.

We ended up seeing Knowing first. It was actually okay up until the end. What a disappointing ending. If you saw The Forgotten or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull then you know exactly what kind of disappointment I mean. Why are so many movies taking unnecessary M. Night Shyamalan twists?

The second show was 12 Rounds. It was a good action movie, but the plot was also very clever - or maybe intricate is the more appropriate word. Added bonus? The extremely attractive Brian White. One of the trailers before the film was for Fighting, his upcoming movie with Channing Tatum, but I didn't know that he was in 12 Rounds too. He is such a treat for the eyes. All in all it was a fun Saturday night. I got to spend time with my man, and watch movies. Always a good time.

Friday Night TV

Friday, March 27, 2009 0
With basically all of my usual Friday night TV lineup either finished or on hiatus*, I have found myself watching a new batch of shows including Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles (TSCC), and Dollhouse. Tonight's TSCC was decent. I've watched it a couple of times before and it's always been interesting, but it's no Stargate or BSG. Dollhouse was excellent. It held my attention for the entire hour and, I mean, any show with Tahmoh Penikett can't be all bad. One small part is still stuck in my mind though - and it didn't really even have much to do with anything. While under the influence of a mind altering drug, things get a little loopy (and then a lot loopy). Adelle DeWitt (played by Olivia Williams) is going a little batty and utters "I find lentils completely incomprehensible." That just tickled my funny bone because, I feel the same way. Lentils have always just freaked me out. I know they taste like nothing on their own and pick up the flavor of whatever they are cooked with – much like tofu, which is also not my cup of tea. I know all this, and have even had some tasty lentil soup, but they still creep me out.

* Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Psych, Monk, and Sanctuary to name a few.

The second day...

I think this is an interesting pair of pictures. Isn’t it so weird how different opposite ends of the same street can look?

So, I was sleeping and dreaming wonderfully vivid dreams this morning...until my little dog who thinks he's a big dog's ridiculously loud non-stop barking woke me up. He knew I was home and damned if he would let me spend time away from him. Needy. Sheesh. However, once I reassured him that I was home and whatnot, I was set to enjoy my lazy Friday. Wonderful...

The first day...

Thursday, March 26, 2009 2
Today was the last especially long day in an especially long work week. Thank God for days off. I snapped this from my office window during the latter part of my lunch hour. Watching the buses while eating my sandwich and waiting for the hours to go by. Truth be told, the day went by quicker than I thought. And now, on to the weekend :)
