The other day Big Head #2 told P that he sometimes waits just inside his office door until he sees a shadow, so that he can pop out and scare the person waking by. Wow. Just, wow.

Today feels like a 'lounge in bed and watch cartoons' kind of day...
Tuesday, April 6, 2010
4
But alas, I am neither lounging, nor watching cartoons (Ben 10: Alien Force or Avatar: The Last Airbender must be on somewhere). I am at work...and it's only Tuesday!
But enough of that :) Apparently my boss, who is expecting, ordered an adorable little onesie for her baby that reads "Elmo is my Homeboy" from Uncommonlycute.com.
It got me thinking about Sesame Street inspired shirts that I want (I used to adore that show as a kid). I decided on "Cookie Monster is my Co-Pilot", "Bird Bird is my Ace", and "Snuffleupagus is the Sh**". The last one fails the kid-friendly test, but the other two would be cute, right?
I saw these shoes during my lunch hour yesterday.

Speaking of things I loved as a kid and randomness, happy birthday Billy Dee Williams. I've always been a fan of his overall suaveness. He just always seems so awesome. So, Happy 73rd B-Day Billy Dee.

I saw these shoes during my lunch hour yesterday.

They were just sitting there, all nice an tidy, on the sidewalk. For some reason, my second thought (my first thought was boring and something along the lines of "Hmmm, those shoes were left there neatly") was "Someone must have received a Scooby-Doo level fright to have leaped straight out of their shoes like that". It was such a random thought that I started to laugh so hard that I started crying. This is NYC though, so no one even glanced at me as I laughed and took a couple of pics :)

The hundred-and-seventy-fifth day...

One day earlier this year as I was walking by the dollar store, I noticed that the store had put a box of stuff outside marked free. I'm attracted to that word like a moth to a flame so I wandered over. I noticed that quite a few people were circling the box, but no one seemed to want to be the first one to look at the contents. I have no such problem, so I dove in. Once I touched the box, it was like open season - people were chomping at the bit to see what was it it. Weird. The box held mostly crap like incorrectly painted dice and weird, fugly looking garlands. I was about to walk away when I saw a bunch of these things.

Anyway, when my previous assistant left, she left hers behind - by accident or on purpose, who knows. Now it just sits at her old desk - now home of the department supplies. I kind of want to put in a drawer so I won't have to look at its creepiness :)
I'm going to be bad and blow off reading tonight. I know, I know...don't tell.
Enjoy the rest of the night everyone!
To be honest, they kind of freak me out, but I figured it would be nice to bring some back for the office to brighten up/cheer up the place. Initially, I was only going to take a couple, but I ended up picking up one for each assistant (at the time) and one for the Manager and Director of the Department (C.Y.A and all). I thought that they would laugh and get a kick out of how creepy they are (am I alone in thinking that?) but they all really liked them. Who knew?

The hundred-and-fortieth day...
Wednesday, August 12, 2009
10
So how was everyone's day? Mine was less than stellar. Work stress combined with exhaustion and inconsiderate co-workers makes for a pissed off me. There is a light on the horizon though...tomorrow is Thursday! Hip, hip, hooray for it being the last day of my workweek - Thursday took way to long getting here.
Tomorrow is also my day to bring in food for the lunch swap. I'm going to try to remember to take a picture, but I might just get so hungry that I completely forget. I'm, of course, not cooking (I want everyone to actually like the food :) My dad's cooking - yum! On the menu are chicken Kiev, lemon-herb rice, garlic-herb broccoli rabe, salad, and apple pie. I'm hungry already.
While on line at the fruit salad stand earlier this week, I saw this man.

I don't know why he left the long piece in his hair. Culture? Style? Just plain randomness?

Who knows? It's not my taste, but I do like seeing people express their personal styles :)
Well, I'm tired and looking to live a little vicariously :) So...what's something interesting that you've all seen or done so far this week?
Have a great night everyone!

The hundred-and-thirty-ninth day...It's hot outside, but it's lovely in here - oh, and questions are getting answered too :)
Tuesday, August 11, 2009
9
The questions have been asked :) So what did inquiring minds want to know?
From Fidgeting Gidget…
1. Since your blog is all about pictures, what is your favorite picture that you've ever taken?
My favorite pictures tend to change with my mood, but there are two that I'm very partial to.
First, a view of the city streets that was taken from the Empire State Building Observation Deck. I just love how the streets look like a maze. This is pretty much how I think of NYC - a maze of streets, people, buildings, and yellow cabs.

Second, is a picture that I took of Jeff Goldblum the first time I was lucky enough to meet him. My legs were shaking so bad that I'm surprised the picture came out so clear :)

Both of the above pictures were taken on the day when my man took me to see Mr. Goldblum in The Pillowman. The play and city exploration day were my graduation gifts from him, and I loved 'em!
2. Are you or have you ever posted a pic of yourself on here? If so, I think I missed it.
To date, I’ve never posted a picture of myself – at least not one where my face is seen. I may post one in the future, but that time has not yet come :)
3. Tell us more about your man. How'd you meet? What's he like?
Well...My man and I met in high school :) We actually said hi to each other a couple of times during our freshman year, but didn’t really talk to each other until sophomore year – he was the cute, sweet guy who always took the time to talk to the girl with her head in a book. We lost touch junior year, and met up again at the senior year Halloween dance he came as Puff Daddy (which meant that he was dressed to kill in an amazing suit), and I was dressed completely out of character as a black widow queen (fishnets, high heels, dramatic makeup, and a slinky black dress, etc). I saw his from across the room, he singled me out and asked me if I’d like something to drink…it was all very cute and I loved it! Through the long distance thing during college and law school, we’ve been in love and together ever since.
What’s he like? Well, he’s a cute, funny, sexy, video game fanatic who gets my jokes (he even waits patiently for me to finish laughing at my own hilarity – as I often do). He gets my friends (we are a crazy bunch) and my movie addiction (seriously, he counted it out and, all told, we saw like 120 movies last year – or something). He is fiercely loving, loyal, respectful and protective, and he always makes me feel sexy, loved, safe, and happy. He’s a family man, and I know that he’ll be a wonderful hubby and father some day. He’s my soul mate – nothing plain and simple about it, but lots of things that are awesome and wonderful about it. I knew it back in our senior year of high school. I knew it when my family drove over to his house at like 3 in the morning on the day when I had to move to Boston for college and our moms watched and gushed about how cute we were as we just stood there hugging and saying how much we were going to miss each other in the month before I’d be home again; and I feel it and know it more each and every day. Well, that was a bit mushy gushy :)
From Lee…
1. Do you have a Mac?
No, I use a PC. My poor Toshiba is a little sick, so I’ve been mainly using the family HP.
2. How many songs are on your mp3 player? If you have one.
I have about 200 songs. I don't really download much music, and am currently too lazy to transfer the rest of my cd's to my computer.3. What kind of camera do you use?
I mainly use a Fujifilm FinePix J10; but I also have a Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd that I use every so often. On the odd days that I forget my camera at home (gasp!), or the battery dies, etc. I usually use the camera on my phone (a Samsung Gravity).
4. What do you do for a living?
I work for an entertainment union. I work with producers, etc to obtain and review all of their paperwork and chain-of-title to make sure that everything is in order, and get them to the point where they are able to use performers from our membership in their films. From Badass…
I feel like I've seen this done somewhere before... =)
I don’t know what you mean :)1. Are you left or right-handed?
I am a righty, though I used to (still do actually) wish that I was ambidextrous. From Moonjava…
1. I've always been a little curious about the dayjobs of my blogger buddies. What do you do currently (career, etc)? And do you love what you do?
Well, as I said above I work for an entertainment union. It can be challenging, and it often is, and while I don’t love what I do right now - due to a mix of work stress and job environment stress – I do really like it. I’ve been working there for a little over two years now, and hope to be there for many more.
Now, what would I really love to do as a career? I would want to be a psychologist (specializing in international psychology). I’m actually going back to school, p/t, to get my M.A. degree in this so we’ll see :)
From Optimistic Pessimist...
1. Wine or beer? Why?
Beer. I've never been a fan of wine - maybe I just haven't found the one for me - but I do enjoy a nice cold one every now and then.
Beer. I've never been a fan of wine - maybe I just haven't found the one for me - but I do enjoy a nice cold one every now and then.
2. What's one of your favorite things about NYC? Least favorite?
One of my favorite things has to be the diversity. The city houses so many different kinds of people, food, cultures, clothes, etc.; it's great. It's exciting to know that I have a seemingly unlimited set of possibilities and experiences so close by.One of my least favorite is the grime. The city can be a dirty, smelly, disgusting place - especially on hot and humid summer days.
3. Are you going to come watch me run the NYC marathon?
I would love to see some of the marathon live. I've only ever caught it in bits and pieces on TV. I just may come and join the ranks of people cheering you on :)4. You are in NYC right, if not...why do i think you are?
I live in Queens, but I do work in NYC :)Thus ends today's question and answer period. That was fun - feel free to ask me more questions anytime :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I did - I can't really believe that it's already Sunday night, but that's an issue for me and Father Time to work out.
Quick mention...Isn't this house beautiful? It's not for sale, but I wish it was (and that I had the money to buy it :)
So, I've probably mentioned before that I am a complete board game geek; and I am so happy because I made one of the best board game purchases that I've made in awhile last night - Quelf!
When I was reading the back of the box in Target yesterday, I thought that the game sounded a little too Random, even for me...but I bought it anyway :)

I am so glad that I did. There are quite a few rules to read through, but it is very easy to pick up once you start playing. Each full game takes about an hour to play, and it was so much fun (and so completely random and strange) that we ended up playing 4 games in a row.
Well, I am off to hang out with my man and his family - maybe introduce them to Quelf? Who knows :)
So what did you all do this weekend?
Have a great night everyone!
There are tons of activity and quiz cards included so there isn't a chance of getting bored (and each activity is so out there that it would be fun even if two people did draw the same card). I highly highly recommend this game for board games fans out there :)

The hundred-and-thirty-fifth day...

I was home sick today and didn't get a chance to take any new pics, so today's post will house some older ones :)
This guy kept looking over at me while he was driving - possibly because I kept staring at him and taking his picture (flash free, of course). I didn't manage to get a clear picture of his bike though, which is a shame because it was gorgeous.
One of the wonderful pieces of artwork on the Kingsborough Community College campus
A vendor setting up his table by Bryant Park
A pic, taken a few months ago, of a construction site near my job. When I stopped to take the pictures, a man came up beside me and asked me what I was doing. I told him that I was taking pictures of the site, and things got really weird. He moved closer to me, said that he wanted to take pictures too, and asked if he could hold my camera for a minute so he could take pictures too. Um...no. I glared at him until he backed off and then I walked away. Craziness.
So, how did the day treat all of you?

Yep, you guessed it. I'm jumping on the question/answer train :)
So, what would you like to know? Ask me whatever you want, and I'll answer it (within reason, of course).
You can feel free to ask questions all weekend (just leave 'em in a comment) and I'll post my answers early next week.

The hundred-and-twenty-sixth day...
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
4
I took a little trip to Barnes & Noble during lunch today (I just beat the rain - yes!) and walked away with two of the little box-o-nonsense things that they keep by the register. What can I say, I was bored, and I had my membership card and a 20% off coupon.
First:

I stuck the magnets to the front of my desk so they can be seen by all who walk by. One co-worker said that they are "cute", but that's all. I don't anticipate any problems - they are a little twisted, but still a little cute.
Second:

I tried to find a place for this in my office, but as I seriously already have way too much stuff on my desk and shelves, I moved it out to P's desk. True, a whole section of her desk is now occupied, but 1) I'm fine with that :) 2) she has a big U shaped desk and could spare the space, and 3) she was sitting at her desk while I constructed the scene (and even taped the 'Do Not Cross' tape down) so there you go :) She was well informed. It's a nice little bonus that her cubicle is the first one that is seen when anyone turns the corner, so the little construction site will be the first thing that people really see :)
So, how has the day been treating all of you? Anyone else made any completely frivolous purchases lately?
Stay dry and enjoy the rest of the day!

Oh, I am so ridiculously glad that it's Friday. This week just crept by - especially today. I hope everyone had a great workweek and is looking forward to the weekend. As for me, I am exhausted and I have a full day tomorrow filled with check-ups and doing laundry (if I'm oh so lucky), so I'm off to sleep. I think I'll turn this into a random-sign-Friday post :)
Yeah, that sounds good :)
Enjoy...

The hundred-and-twelfth day...

Well, today was Shea's birthday :) Shea is P and L's favorite stuffed animal - yeah, you read that right. They went around Facebook telling everyone that today was his birthday, and asking everyone what they were getting him as a gift. I decided to give the gift of friendship - so sweet, I know :) So, before I left work for the night, I made a cute little birthday sign and had P and my work mascots hold it up for their friend.

I was discussing Sesame Street with Sis 1 tonight - actually we were discussing the 'chong chong' sound that can be heard on all the Law & Order shows (it was a pretty hilarious conversation), and we remembered the following old Sesame Street skit. Whether you've seen it before, or you're seeing it for the first time...enjoy :)
Have a great night everyone!
Happy Birthday Shea!

And now time for a random music related post
Thursday, April 9, 2009
2
After being re-routed a few times I came across this blog here and saw this music related post. Since, I'm enjoying being lazy, I decided to give it a whirl :)
1. Put Your iTunes, mp3 player, etc on shuffle; 2. For each question, press the ‘next’ button to get your answer; 3. You must write down the name of the song no matter how silly it sounds!; and 4. Put any comments, if any, in brackets after the song name.
1) What do your friends think of you? Scandalous - LaToya London (Okay...)
2) If someone says, “Is this okay?” You say? Push Up On Me - Rihanna (I guess that would explain #1)
3) How would you describe yourself? Make That Money (Roxbury Remix) - Robi Rob's Club World (I do try - buy NOT by telling people to push up on me. I want that noted :)
4) What do you like in a guy? Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (Nice :)
5) How do you feel today? Something's Gotta Give - Sammy Davis Jr. ( I did feel that way earlier...but I'm on vacation now. Woo Hoo!)
6) What is your life’s purpose? Get Out Alive - Three Days Grace (I'll take it)
7) What is your motto? Goodies - Ciara feat. Petey Pablo (There seems to be an unintentional theme going on here)
