The sixty-seventh day...

Sunday, May 31, 2009 6
Target has little scooters for the security personnel to ride on now :) Too adorable! I want one :)

The Assets Protection scooter :)

When I was checking my mail yesterday, I came across this:

They went through quite a bit of trouble to get me my JCPenney catalog. Not that I don't appreciate it - I do. I thought it was pretty neat actually, and it gives me confidence that the rest of my mail with get to me in one piece - as long as it is properly prepared and addressed that is :)

Have an amazing Sunday everyone!

The sixty-sixth day...(a little belated)

Sorry for the belated post everyone - again :) My sisters and I were up for hours playing God of War II, and we lost all track of time. Actually we watched The House Bunny first and then moved on to video games. And, actually I was alternating between that and Lego Indiana Jones :) None of us have ever played either game before, and I have to say they are both great in their own ways. I may have to play a little more today...no, make that, I definitely will :)

Anyway, my family went out during the afternoon yesterday (before the video game playing began :) and discovered a little surprise. A new restaurant has moved into the residential neighborhood that houses my old high school. That's right! The building right next to the post office and the movie theater, and near the Boston Market, Applebee's and Kohl's (I absolutely love Kohl's, btw), where the old Future Diner use to be, now houses a Hooters. Apparently, the neighborhood is going crazy for it because when we drove by, we saw that the line to get in was out the door. It was just weird to see it when I remember a Future Diner being there, with it's 50's diner feel - even though that place closed down years ago.

I found it funny that the girls called out "Hey daddy!" - in unison - to all the cars that passed.
Have a great day everyone!

The sixty-fifth day...

Friday, May 29, 2009 3
Hello weekend. I'm not afraid to admit that I love you. That's right weekend, and I will shout that from the highest mountain top. Let's enjoy this time together :)

Anywho, Dressbarn's new style is Hippie Chic. I love that style of clothing and like all four of the outfits that they had in the window. I like the second and fourth outfit more though - I'm just not a big shorts wearer.

Have a great night everyone! I am off to enjoy a full night's sleep :)

The Friday 5

TGIF, TGIF, T...G...I...F!!!

I know this was a shortened workweek thanks to Memorial Day, but it feels like Friday took forever to get here. But it's here! Friday's here, and now the countdown to 5:30pm begins :)

In the meantime, here's the Friday 5...

1. What is the longest you’ve gone between haircuts?
Six months, give or take

2. What is the shortest hour of the day?
My lunch hour :)

3. What is the longest line you’ve ever stood in?
The line to get into Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom last summer. It was a long, hot, uncomfortable wait, but it was completely worth it :)

4. Who’s your shortest adult friend?
Probably J. She’s around 5’ tall.

5. Who among your current friends have you known the longest?
That would be C. We’ve known each other since kindergarten :)

Have a great day everyone!

The sixty-fourth day...Booty Call

Thursday, May 28, 2009 4
Get your minds out of the gutter people :) I'm talking, of course, about Pirate's Booty!

Now, I'll admit right off the bat that I have never tasted Pirate's Booty, but my dad got this hat at work and I asked if I could have it the instant I saw it :)

Business in the front :)

Party in the back :)

Have a great night everyone. The weekend is almost here!

The sixty-third day...(a little belated)

Sorry for the belated post, but I was so tired that I just about collapsed when I got home last night.

Anyway, I saw a new Train of Thought sign on the bus the other day - Yea! It's a little ridiculous how excited I am to see new ones, but I enjoy seeing who the choose to quote :)

If we could first know where we are and
whither we are tending, we could better
judge what to do and how to do it.
Abraham Lincoln, "House Divided" Speech, 1858

If anyone is interested in reading more of the speech, you can head over to The History Place and check it out.

A few days after seeing this ToT sign, I was coming home on the bus and saw it again. It had fallen out of place and someone has placed it in the space beside my seat. I was tempted to ask the bus driver if I could take it, but it had smudges of who-knows-what all over it so I passed. Oh well.

Have a great morning everyone :)

The sixty-second day...

Tuesday, May 26, 2009 6
Did anyone else have a hard time getting back into the swing of things today, or was that just me? I felt like my brain was still on long weekend time - it was so hard to focus on projects and phone calls and all that work stuff.

I had to get out and take a walk, so P and I decided to pop into the New York Transit Museum store on our lunch break today. Well, it was more like I have always wanted to visit the Transit Museum, as I have never been there before, and since P was bored she decided to accompany me. I'll definitely go back another day so I can take a real look around; it was kind of interesting to see what's going on underneath the city :)

Trust the subway. It's safe, sturdy and fun!

Enjoy the rest of the night everyone!

The sixty-first day...Happy Memorial Day :)

Monday, May 25, 2009 4
Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I cannot believe that it's Monday night already. I am so not ready to go in to work tomorrow - the weekends are just never long enough. Anyway, I hope you all had amazing weekends filled with fun, sun, barbeques, etc., etc., etc. I was home with the Sisters relaxing and enjoying TV and movies. I love hanging out with them :)

My next door neighbors have been partying it up ALL DAY LONG. I have no problem with that...well I have the one problem. I just wish they would turn their bass down to mild earthquake level. I can feel the music in my bones for crying out loud. At least it's good music :)

I passed this fountain as my man and I were wandering around the city looking for a Verizon store on Friday :) I thought it was interesting - I have this thing for fountains - and snapped the pics...

Have a great night everyone! I'm off to watch Role Models :)

The sixtieth day...

Sunday, May 24, 2009 0
Today was a hot, humid, lazy couch potato day. I slept off some of my soreness from moving all that stuff yesterday, and re-watched Twilight with my sisters while sitting directly in front of a fan (I'm lounging in a wonderfully air conditioned room now) :)

This picture is of the lot next to Sis 1's house that she and her friends rent off campus.

There used to be a house there, but apparently they discovered that it was chock full-o-asbestos and tore it down. It's a little weird now though, because now my sister's place is the only one on the block. It kind of throws the street off balance a bit.

Well, I'm off to try and sleep off the rest of this soreness. I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend! Enjoy the night everyone!

The fifty-ninth day...

Saturday, May 23, 2009 4
After D&B yesterday, my man and I took some time to relax in Bryant Park. It was nice to just sit and relax and enjoy the scenery :)

Today I went to help move my sisters back home for the summer - I am tired and sore and tired and sore, but my sisters are home now so YEA! :) The sky in PA was beautiful for most of the day - and my sisters had five free movie tickets which led to my seeing Star Trek for the third time :) And yes, it was still excellent!

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone :)

Friday, May 22, 2009

The fifty-eighth day...Dave and Busters is just wonderful :)

Friday, May 22, 2009 3
Hello long weekend!

Lunch and going to Dave and Busters this afternoon was tremendous fun :) S had to deal with a family issue so she couldn't come, but it was still great fun. My man and I ended up with about 6,500 tickets at D&B (we had about 1,500 left over from our last D&B trip), so that meant Hello Winner's Circle :) I picked out a comfy D&B hoodie :)

Gotta love it!

Also, hello Fleet Week! I love this time of year :)

Howdy sailor!
Have a great night everyone!

The Friday 5

TGIF everyone (oh, and it's the beginning of a nice, long holiday weekend too - Yea)!
It's that time again...time for the Friday 5 :)

1. What kind of out-of-school lessons did you take as a kid?
Piano – for a little while.

2. What valuable lesson did you learn this past week?
Sometimes it is better to hold your tongue and be the bigger person.

3. Who in your life really needs to be taught a lesson?
One particular person – she knows who she is.

4. What kinds of lessons would you love to have a private teacher for right now?
Language lessons - I would love to really learn Spanish and French.

5. What steps have you taken to lessen the impact of these rough economic times?
Working hard, and trying (trying) to spend less :)

Have a great Friday everyone!

The fifty-seventh day...The weekend is almost here!

Thursday, May 21, 2009 6
Tomorrow is a half-day at work (happy dance). The office will be closing down at 1pm, and my brain is already on weekend time :) I am going out to lunch after work tomorrow with my man, P and her hubby-to-be L, and our fellow co-worker S. We'll be going to Dave and Busters after that, and my man and I absolutely love playing video games, so I'm looking forward to that. I'm just sick of work right now. It has stressed me out so much for the past couple of weeks that I just need to relax. Thank goodness this is a nice long weekend - though they really are never long enough :)

A pic or two...
Hey Bryant Park :) This summery weather is looking good on ya!

As much as I love the colors (so bright :), I don't like this J. Crew window display as much as the ice cream cones.

So, does anyone have any fun Memorial Day plans? Any trips, BBQs, etc.?

Have a great night everyone! I'm off to watch So You Think You Can Dance :)

The fifty-sixth day...

Wednesday, May 20, 2009 5
Today was blissfully gorgeous weather-wise...too bad it was so horrible work-wise. The whole week has been crappy actually. I cannot wait for this week to be over. Three of the projects that I am currently working on are testing the very limits of my sanity and patience, and I need a long weekend to recoup. I am actually helping to move my sisters home for the summer on Saturday, but it's all relaxation all the time on Sunday and Monday - I hope.

I took a short walk during my lunch hour today - how could I not, it was gorgeous outside :) On the way back to the office, I noticed that a few people on the sidewalk opposite to Brooks Brothers were stopping and looking up at the store. It turns out that they were looking at these two guys.

Now, they didn't look like construction workers, so I started to wonder what they were doing on the scaffolding at all. I had just seen a cute human interest story on ABC about the Washington State Banker that rescued some adorable ducklings (such a cute story) and wondered for a fraction of a half of a split second if something heartwarming like that could be happening.

I think Mr. Pink actually stared right at me for a bit :) Hi!

Of course, that wasn't the case. These two jokers just decided that crawling out through their office windows for a quick smoke break on dangerous scaffolding was just more convenient and made more sense than actually venturing out to the sidewalk. Um...okay.

Anyway, have a great night everyone!

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

The fifty-fifth day...Hello Mister Softee :)

Tuesday, May 19, 2009 8
I just went out for a little lunch time walk and noticed that there are currently ice cream trucks parked at the intersections of almost every single block. It's a bit excessive if you ask me, but that's probably only because I didn't want ice cream today :) Now if I had wanted some, and had to actually walk more than a block to get some...no, still excessive.

I did notice, however, that of the four trucks that I passed, only one was actually a Mister Softee truck. I used to love those music-playing Mister Softee trucks - though I haven't actually bought anything from an ice cream truck in years. The other trucks were mostly red and just said 'Ice Cream' - not that anyone seemed to care. Each truck was doing some pretty good business.

Today's weather is absolutely perfect for me. 66°, Sunny, slightly breezy, beautifully wonderful too-bad-I'm-stuck-inside-at-work weather. It should be like this year round. Too bad, the temp is supposed to go up tomorrow :(

Enjoy the day everyone!

Monday, May 18, 2009

The fifty-fourth day...

Monday, May 18, 2009 4
Today started off chilly and dreary, but it ended up being one of those days with a refreshingly brisk breeze :) To make it even better, I didn't flex today so I actually got home at a decent, still-light-out hour. Yea!

Some cloud shots for today...

Here's to traveling and finding an amazing adventure.
Looking at all the clouds - and the three or four planes that passed by while I was snapping away - has got me thinking about traveling and wishing that I could go on vacation. If I could go anywhere right now to hang out for a bit, I think I'd take my man on a trip to Paris. Ahh, that would be wonderful :) Where would you guys go?
Enjoy the rest of the night everyone :)

The fifty-third day...

Sunday, May 17, 2009 4
So, P and I went shopping during lunch one day last week. I ended up spending about $20 and bought these three items (a little wristlet, a cute purse, and some nice sunglasses).

Yea, bargain shopping!

So, how was everyone's Sunday? I can't believe the weekend is over. They fly by way too fast for my liking. I'm already looking forward to this Friday. As it is the Friday before Memorial Day, the office will be closing at 1pm - and I am all for half days. Now, I just need to get through the week. I know there are at least three problem projects waiting on my desk - of course, I know this because that's where I left them on Thursday, but still :)

Have a great night everyone!

Saturday, May 16, 2009

The fifty-second day...

Saturday, May 16, 2009 5
Today was just so dreary looking outside that I decided to spend the day inside.

The sky was just so blah today

On a brighter, more exciting note...my sewing machine was delivered yesterday. It is electronic and a lot different than my mom's older machine so, on this dreary Saturday, I've been alternating between reading Jean Johnson's The Song and the instructions for my pretty new machine :) It's been slower going with the instructions, as the book is really interesting, but that's okay.

Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone :)

Friday, May 15, 2009

The fifty-first day...

Friday, May 15, 2009 7
My man and I went to see Angels & Demons today. It was pretty good. I actually liked The Da Vinci Code, but this installment was better and more interesting to me. The plot was good, as was the acting, and this one had Ewan McGregor in it which was a bonus :)

As we were leaving the theater, we passed the arcade section, and I couldn't help but notice once of the claw machines. I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw it.

These plush toys are Hot Stuff! Get 'em while you can!

I mean, I understand that the economy is in crisis, businesses are in need of money, etc., but come on. I think that these kinds of machines should cost, at most, 50 cents to a dollar to try your hand at possibly, maybe, potentially winning a dust covered mini stuffed animal - that is if the claw wasn't rigged to not close completely, as they often are. I mean, my man is insanely good at those machines and has won me countless mini dodgeballs, Shrek baby stuffed animals, seven dwarf dolls, etc - I mean he's like freaky skilled at that thing, but 8 quarters? $2.00 per try? You must be kidding!

Enjoy the rest of the night everyone :)

The Friday 5

TGIF once again everyone! It's time for the Friday 5 :)

1. Which of your friends is the most frugal?

No one that I can think of.

2. Which of your friends is the biggest spendthrift?

Since I can't say myself, I would have to say P.

3. Which of your friends is the most daring?

Definitely K. She is constantly doing wonderful things like temporarily living in new cities and countries, skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.

4. Which of your friends is the most cautious?

I would say S, only because I think she may be the most likely to look before she leaps of all of us.

5. Which of your friends has the hottest temper?

I'll skip this one - like I'm really going to call out the friend with the hottest temper :)

Have an amazing Friday everyone! Welcome back to the weekend.

The fiftieth day...My cellphone has a pretty new outfit

Thursday, May 14, 2009 2
It was raining on and off today, but there were a few dry bits and even some sunny spots this afternoon. However, while most of the day was wet, overcast and pretty cold, I prefer that to the massive amounts of stifling heat that I know will be coming up soon enough. I am just not a Summer person. I'm one of those people that get too hot and uncomfortable too quickly; and the way that the city traps the humidity is ridiculous.

So while today was a little chilly I decided to enjoy it (bobbing and weaving under umbrellas) and went for a walk through the plaza (shown above) during lunch. Ahhh, smoke free beauty :) I took the long way back to work - I was just not ready to go back - and walked past Best Buy. While I was taking in the sight of the ever growing line of fans waiting to meet Green Day tomorrow, one of the Best Buy employees was giving away Mocks cellphone cases to everyone passing by. Now, I love love love freebies! He was giving away this one in blue, and now my phone looks so cute in its new clothes :)

Did anyone else happen upon any cool freebies today?

Enjoy the rest of the night everyone.

Wouldn’t it be loverly…loverly… (and now that song is stuck in my head :)

The lovely Art over at the wonderful Art Ravels and the lovely My Wooden Heart at the fantastic My Wooden Heart both gave me this beautiful (or rather, lovely :) award today.

Thank you so much Art and My Wooden Heart! It’s so rainy and dreary outside today, and this award just made the day that much brighter. What a great way to start the morning :)

And now, on to the rules:

1. Add the logo to your blog;

2. Link to the person from whom you received this award;

3. Nominate 7 or more blogs; and

4. Leave a message on their blog, letting them know they are One Lovely Blog!

There are so many wonderfully lovely blogs that deserve this award (yeah, I follow quite a few blogs – they’re just so interesting!), and here are a few:

· Cape Cod Love

· Paper Trail

· One Bride, One Groom, and a Broom

· Caress the Fro

· Cooler Ranch or Nacho Cheese

· My Wooden Heart

· Laptops to Lullabies

· Wife of a Wounded Marine

All of these blogs are wonderful and interesting reads. Funny, serious, stressed, relaxed, long posts, short posts, etc, etc – they are all lovely :) There are so many more, but I’ll stop before I just list every single one of the blogs that I follow and give you an insanely long post :)

Have a lovely day everyone. Stay dry!

The forty-ninth day...I just want to sleep

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 6
How is everybody doing on this Hump Day?

My lost sleep sign :)

I am flexing once again this week and am exhausted. I made this sign some time ago for the days when I feel like this. So far, this whole week has been filled with these days. Is it Friday yet? I ask because, not only will I get to sleep a little later, but also because my sewing machine is scheduled to be delivered that day. I'm getting pretty excited about that. Hopefully it will lead to me making some nice things. I have high hopes :)

On a less sleepy note, I noticed a new Train of Thought sign on the bus this morning squeezed in between the usual hire a lawyer/learn a new language/visit the transit museum/bus safety and etiquette signs. It's about time! I'm so impatient :)

I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone!

The forty-eighth day...

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 0
On the train ride home, I saw this David's Bridal bag and had to take a quick picture :)

I'm not sure if the bag belonged to the first or second lady; and while I'm reasonably sure that it contained a prom dress and not a wedding dress (it is prom season, after all), I chose to imagine it housing a beautiful and luxurious wedding dress. Thanks to no less than three friends/co-workers discussing their upcoming weddings - and the lists upon lists of details that they have yet to take care of - I've got wedding on the brain. I kind of like it :) I also just sent my man a mental signal to calm down - just in case. I swear sometimes I feel like he can just feel when I even think the word wedding :)

Have a great night everyone!

The forty-seventh day...

Monday, May 11, 2009 2
Today's lunch hour adventure...
So, this not-so-friendly neighborhood taxi driver practically flattens P and me today. Hey a**, you are supposed to drive on the ROAD.
So I kept snapping pics of his cab like a freaking crime scene photographer :)
Don't be shy Mr. Taxi Driver. Give us a smile.
Or, not. Gotcha anyway. He promptly sped off (like burning rubber fast) after this pic. Have a great day!

On another note, the latest J. Crew window display is adorable :) The ice cream cone motif is cute, and the items pictured look even better in person. I'm not the biggest J. Crew fan, but even I'll admit that whoever designed the current window displays did an excellent job.
So, how was everyone else's Monday? I hope everyone started the week off on a positive note. Enjoy the rest of the night!

The forty-sixth day...

Sunday, May 10, 2009 4
My mom relaxed for most of her Mommy's Day (as well she should :) - and, until my dad came home, there wasn't much else to do - so I ended up just reading and writing for most of the day.

I will be the first to admit that I have a ridiculous amount of books. I have them tucked in every nook and cranny, and stacked all over the place. What can I say? I love to read :) While I prefer reading mostly fiction, I'll gladly read non-fiction stuff if the subject matter, and/or the writing style, really grabs me. If anyone has any interesting book suggestions, please feel free to leave 'em in a comment.

My current read is Ice Trap by Kitty Sewell. It's not that interesting to me so far, but I'm only on chapter two so I'm giving it the benefit if the doubt. I have a new batch of books that I ordered from Amazon coming in soon - hopefully as soon as tomorrow - so I'm looking forward to that. I need some new reading material for my daily commute. It always makes the rush hour train ride more comfortable when you have a book to bury your head in :)

Well, I hope all the moms out there had an amazing Mother's Day :) Have a great night everyone!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there :)

Here's wishing my lovely and amazing mom, my man's lovely and amazing mom, and every other (yep, you guessed it) lovely and amazing mom out there, a wonderful day full of relaxation and happiness. You all deserve it :)

The forty-fifth day...

Saturday, May 9, 2009 2
Thanks a bunch MTA.

Trains running less frequently during rush hours, huh? Until December 31st? Yeah, no, that makes sense. Why not just cut service altogether and tell everyone to walk, run or swim home? I agree with the random flyer tagger - typical MTA.

How's everyone's Saturday going? Enjoy the rest of the night :)
